Dear Friend,

On April 30, I was incredibly proud to stand with Congressman Ed Markey as he was selected to be the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. Ed is a good friend and I am confident that he will continue to represent Massachusetts with distinction if elected.

I would also like to thank Congressman Steve Lynch for lending his energy, voice, and ideas during the Democratic primary.

As you know, Congressman Markey now faces another challenge in the general election, and I will continue to stand by his side to ensure that on June 25th he is elected as our next United States Senator.

If that happens, and I am confident that it will, there will be a campaign to determine who will replace Ed in the United States Congress. Today I am announcing the formation of a federal campaign committee to explore running for the 5th Congressional District if Congressman Markey is elected to the United States Senate.

My goal has always been to serve the people I represent with honor, respect and pride. Growing up in Waltham, I was taught by my parents - both public servants - about the responsibility our elected officials have to those they represent. Throughout my nearly 25 years in public service as a former prosecutor, State Representative and now as Sheriff, that sense of responsibility has served as my guiding principle and is why I would be honored to continue to represent in Congress the district that's always been home to me.

Now, let's get Ed Markey elected to the U.S. Senate. And after we do that, Elizabeth and I along with my entire family look forward to working with you on this exciting endeavor!

Thank you for your continued friendship as I begin this new chapter of my life and career. My success in public service has always come from the strong support of those I represent.

Your help is critical now more than ever. Please take a moment to join our team today.

Sincerely,
